Yars Rising (2024) – Michaela Nachtigall – Co-composer, Violin, and Viola
This boss theme focuses on the strained relationship between the main character, Emi, and her best friend Malorie (aka “Mal”), who has been working with the antagonists from the very start. My interpretation of this ultimate betrayal is demonstrated musically through the interplay between Mal’s main theme in the acoustic strings (in which the main violin melody gradually becomes more distorted) and the electronics synth stabs that interject throughout the theme, which further reinforces Mal’s malicious intent.
Special thanks to Jason Zaffary for adding a whole layer of quality post-production to help build up the intensity through his drums + bass riffs, along with Tommy Pedrini and James Montagna for their overall guidance!
